| I am a DJ. Plain and simple. My religion, my law, my lifeblood is electronic music. Ever since the first beat hit me back in 1984, it's been a lifelong love. House, techno, trance, old school, anything with a good rhythm that isn't cheesey. Since I took to the wheels of steel in 1992, I've played in most of Chicago's known and legendary nightclubs. Currently, my work has been more on bringing a more intelligent vibe of music to every spot I play. I'm not so much interested anymore in names on flyers or playing trendy music to a screaming audience. I more want to push the musical envelope. To get people who normally know a certain kind of electronic music and challenge them to hear new sounds and new vibes. Education and entertainment is my logic. It can't just be "playing the hits". My influences are vibes. Originally I was drawing upon the sounds of Bad Boy Bill and Julian 'Jumpin' Perez back in the early days. As the 90s moved on, I found myself drawn to the deep house sounds of names like Derrick Carter, Lego, Mark Grant, and Justin Long. When trance exploded upon America in the late 90s, I found names like Ferry Corsten and Paul Van Dyk to be greatly influential. Nowadays, I more draw my influences on vibes I see. When I see a successful event, with a good DJ rocking the crowd...be it a big name or local name...I draw upon what I see and hear, then recreate that vibe with my own creative twist. Too many times DJs will just fall into the one vibe they were successful with, but when that sound and vibe falls into the past they refuse to change with it. A talented DJ in my book can keep his sound, but change with the times. My sound is best described as energetic, smooth, and intelligent. House is my mainstay, with trance and techno as loving companions. I like to take listeners on a journey though a vibe. Something they felt, something they experienced, something they loved. I hate hate hate anything too dark, minimal, or techy...about as much as I hate anything cheesey. Music to me is all about melody and love. I love the jazzy/funky nature of deep house. I love the energy and positivity of trance, and I love the pounding relentless hit of techno. Best way to experience my sound is to check out my mixes. Enjoy. |
